The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is excited to announce the Undergraduate Essay Competition 2025. This competition invites students to share their ideas on how tax laws in Nigeria can help the country progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNDP aims to generate fresh perspectives and raise public awareness in support of the SDGs.
Committed to fostering equality, dignity, and opportunity for all, UNDP works to improve the lives of Nigerians, particularly the marginalized and underprivileged. As an international organization, UNDP collaborates with the Nigerian federal government, development partners, UN agencies, civil society, and local communities to identify local solutions to national and international development challenges.
The competition encourages undergraduate students to critically explore the link between commerce, taxation, and sustainable development. By participating, students will deepen their understanding of public finance and its impact on the social, economic, and environmental aspects of sustainable development. Winners will receive cash prizes and certificates of recognition, with the top prize being NGN 1,000,000.
