Fully Funded | MSIF’s McDonald Fellowships 2024

The McDonald Fellowships for 2024 present an exceptional opportunity initiated by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF). Are you a resident of a low or middle-income country? Are you engaged in studies or projects within such countries, particularly relevant to multiple sclerosis? Do you aspire to pursue research endeavors outside your home country? This fully-funded fellowship targets individuals meeting the aforementioned criteria. Participants are encouraged to seize this fellowship to enhance their expertise while contributing to their proposed research initiatives.

The fully-funded international fellowship for 2024 offers immense value to candidates unable to afford research exposure within global contexts. Candidates are expected to leverage their newly acquired expertise and networks to advance multiple sclerosis (MS) research and patient care in low and middle-income countries. These fellowships come in two forms: one, in partnership with ECTRIMS (European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis), termed as the MSIF-ECTRIMS McDonald Fellowship, and the other in partnership with ARSEP, known as the MSIF-ARSEP McDonald Fellowship.

The McDonald Fellowship for 2024 aims to deepen individuals’ understanding of various aspects of MS, including its types, causes, symptoms, and related advanced knowledge. Addressing the wide-ranging and complex barriers to accessing MS healthcare and improved treatment requires a globally sustainable solution. To this end, MSIF collaborates with national MS organizations to develop robust action plans addressing healthcare challenges.

This global research opportunity aligns with MSIF’s mission of uniting individuals to enhance the quality of life for those affected by MS. The organization aims to achieve five critical objectives: fostering positive changes in attitudes, policies, and practices; promoting confident and informed decision-making; advancing scientific understanding and treatments; enhancing access to healthcare and treatment; and building a stronger, more inclusive MSIF movement. MSIF has established advanced systems, bridged gaps in the global research workforce, enhanced methods for measuring research impact, increased funding for MS research, and fortified MS organizations and related networks to achieve these aims.
