To join a continuing education program that lasts from two to six months, or an advanced master’s or bachelor’s program, you need to be a student at a higher educational institution in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium. The ARES institute in Belgium offers three types of advanced training programs under its 2022-2027 cooperation program. You can choose the program that suits you best. If you are a member of a partner organization, you can apply for this global scholarship program through the correct channel. After completing a one-year advanced master’s or bachelor’s program, you’ll receive an academic degree. You’ll also get a certificate after finishing any continuing education programs you take. This way, you’ll learn how to make effective changes using practical, thoughtful abilities for community development.

Scholarship Benefits 

  • You’ll receive an economy class travel allowance once per academic year.
  • You’ll get a living allowance for 12 months for advanced bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.
  • You’ll receive a living allowance for the continuing education program, depending on the course duration.
  • ARES will cover your insurance costs.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • You must be a national, citizen, or worker in one of the eligible countries listed by ARES.
  • You must have a diploma equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a Belgian university to apply for advanced master’s and continuing education courses.
  • You must have a diploma equivalent to an undergraduate degree from a Belgian institute to apply for advanced bachelor’s programs.
  • You must have obtained your academic degree no more than 20 years before the start of the course.
  • You must have at least two years of relevant professional experience after earning your previous degree.
  • You must be proficient in English.
  • Preference is given to students who know French.
  • You can apply for only one training course at a time.

How to Apply 

  • Applicants must apply through the GIRAF platform.
  • First, create an active GIRAF account.
  • You will receive a confirmation email after activating your account.
  • Once you have access to your account, you can find the application form under the “My tasks” tab in the Competitive Calls section on your profile.
  • Fill out the form carefully and use the “Save and edit later” option.
  • Be careful when completing the application form because once you submit it, you can no longer make changes.
  • Successful candidates will receive an email by the end of June 2025.
