The ADB Japan Scholarship Program, launched by the Government of Japan, aims to attract the top talents from ADB member countries to pursue their master’s degrees at various institutions across the Asia and Pacific Region, including the University of Tokyo. This fully-funded scholarship allows students to study at Tokyo University without any cost. Its main goal is to help students enhance their existing skills and guide them towards fields related to development, fostering a brighter future.
The Japan Government Scholarship Program focuses on promoting education in economics, science, and environmental studies. Established in 1988, the ADB scholarship was designed to support students from ADB member countries. Since then, the Asian Development Bank has been dedicated to improving the social and economic conditions of its member states. In partnership with the Japan Government, funds have been set up to provide scholarships for international students from these countries.
The ADB-JSP Scholarship at Tokyo University offers an incredible opportunity for individuals to study at one of the world’s top institutions for free. While this scholarship program includes several participating institutes, this article focuses on the opportunity at the University of Tokyo. UTokyo hosts around 4200 international students, making it a diverse and dynamic place to study. The university has produced seventeen prime ministers, seventeen Nobel Prize winners, five astronauts, and a Fields Medalist, highlighting its prestigious status. For ADB scholars, the University of Tokyo is an ideal study destination.
A significant aspect of the Asian Development Bank grant is that graduates must return to their home countries to contribute to their development and sustainability. Additionally, this scholarship allows students to apply to multiple institutes, making it a great option for those committed to serving their home countries and people effectively.
