KSJ Fellowship Program in the USA 2025-26 | Fully Funded

The Knight Science Journalism (KSJ) Fellowship is a fully funded program in the USA, offered annually. It’s a great chance for students interested in combining science, technology, and journalism. The program selects 10 participants from around the world to study at prestigious universities and gain valuable experience over 9.5 months.

This research-focused fellowship is designed for international students to work on journalism-related projects. Participants will enhance their research skills by collecting solid data from various sources. They will also create presentations, videos, and recordings while developing theoretical frameworks for their projects.

Guided by experienced research mentors, participants will receive regular support throughout the program. At the end, they will present their research findings orally. Outstanding projects may even be published in journals or as research articles, boosting participants’ professional profiles. Social events during the program encourage networking with people from different cultures.

Beyond academics, the KSJ Fellowship includes trips to exciting locations and workshops to develop technical skills. Participants will gain hands-on experience in media-related areas such as videography, photo editing, systematic data reporting, and digital interviews, making it a unique opportunity to grow in journalism and beyond.

Participants will work on journalism-related research, guided by experts, and enhance skills in reporting, videography, photo editing, and digital interviews. Eligibility Criteria

  1. Open to full-time journalists (staff or freelance).
  2. Minimum three years of experience in journalism, science, or health.
  3. Open to writers, media correspondents, film producers, and media professionals.
  4. No prior fellowship of over four months in the past two years.

Documents Required

  • A statement (max 500 words) explaining why you want to join.
  • A detailed CV with education, work, awards, and honors.
  • An overview of your proposed research project.

Program Requirements

  • Stay in Boston for 9.5 months.
  • Take at least one science course each semester.
  • Participate in all social and academic activities.
  • Complete the selected research project within the program.
  • No external paid research work allowed during the fellowship.
