Scholarship Provision

  • Students working towards a Master by Research degree will get a full fee waiver for up to two years, and those working towards a PhD will get a full fee waiver for up to four years.
  • A stipend of $37,000 per year prorated will be given for a maximum of two years for students working towards a Master by Research degree and up to 3.5 years for students working towards a PhD degree.
  • Limited paid sick, maternity, and parental leave are included in the stipend, which may be subject to annual adjustments.
  • Students moving from outside of Australia will receive a relocation grant of $3000, and $2000 if they are coming from a state or territory other than Victoria.
  • For international students needing a student visa to study in Australia, there is the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership.

Eligibility Criteria for Qualification

  • Must be qualified for and have applied for a University of Melbourne graduate research program.
  • Must be currently registered in a graduate research course at the University of Melbourne.
  • Must have a strong academic record.
  • Should start the scholarship in the year it is granted.
  • Domestic students must hold an Australian permanent residency visa.
  • Must have finished 4 years of undergraduate studies with at least 75% in the relevant field.
  • Should meet the university’s English language requirements.
