The Westerwelle Young Founders Programme Autumn 2024 is designed to support young entrepreneurs by creating equal opportunities in growing markets. This international fellowship, held in Germany, brings together leaders from around the world. In Berlin, these outstanding young entrepreneurs aim to achieve great things in their businesses. The program also provides opportunities for past fellows to share their successful business strategies in emerging markets.

The six-month Westerwelle international fellowship offers a comprehensive package for young businesspeople. It includes mentoring, peer learning, a buddy program, a Berlin conference, and expert sessions. These elements are crucial for making a significant impact in emerging markets. One of the best features of this fully-funded fellowship is that it pairs participants with successful entrepreneurs or inventors who act as sparring partners. Participants also get to interact with others and gain access to new business opportunities.

This fully-funded international fellowship seeks entrepreneurs who have the potential to become leaders of a sustainable future and have impactful business models. The Westerwelle Foundation’s international fellowship program empowers young leaders by connecting economic success with leadership. The Foundation has renowned partners like Evonik, Gi2, Google, Liquid Telecom, United International Hotspot, Oracle, Flat 6 Labs Tunis, and more. This opportunity allows young future leaders to learn business techniques from these partners. Additionally, the ten best participants will attend a fully-funded Berlin Conference, where they can network with some of the world’s most successful businesspeople and mentors while staying in Germany for a week.

Scholarship Provision

  • The attendees will join a two-day online Kick-off conference in the first week of September.
  • The attendees will receive comprehensive support for six months, including a personal mentor, alumni buddy, peer mentoring sessions each month, monthly workshops, and networking opportunities.
  • Connections with investors and corporations.
  • The top ten attendees will be invited to attend a fully-funded international conference in Germany for 5 days.
  • During the five-day conference, the participants will have the chance to pitch to investors, join networks, and gain insight into Germany’s start-up scene.

Eligibility Criteria for Qualification

  • The applicant must have launched a for-profit enterprise within the last five years. The company should target developing or emerging markets.
  • The enterprise must have a business model that is successful in generating optimal revenue or has secured its initial round of external investment.
  • The business must be impactful and aim to improve market quality.
  • The applicants must be proficient in English.
  • The applicants must be available for conferences and events for six months during this fellowship.
