The Abel Visiting Scholar Program offers a unique chance for researchers from developing countries to spend a month collaborating with international experts, all expenses covered. This incredible opportunity is made possible by the Abel Prize in Mathematics and is overseen by the Commission for Developing Countries of the International Mathematical Union.
For scholars eager to expand their research horizons, this program is a golden ticket. It provides a platform to work alongside renowned mentors and accomplished researchers globally. Through this immersive experience, scholars can explore innovative approaches and unlock groundbreaking research outcomes.
Funded three times a year, this program enables post-doctoral mathematicians to conduct research internationally for up to a year, with three grants available annually. The application process allows eligible scholars to apply multiple times within a year, increasing their chances of securing this fully funded opportunity.
Designed especially for early-career postdoctoral mathematicians, the program offers a valuable research sabbatical. This sabbatical serves as a crucial supplement to their teaching and academic responsibilities, empowering mathematicians to maintain a vibrant research agenda. Given the limited funding available in this field, this program stands out as a highly sought-after and prestigious opportunity.
The Commission for Developing Countries, in collaboration with the International Mathematical Union, is dedicated to addressing the financial barriers faced by mathematicians in the developing world. Recognizing the wealth of talent and resources in Mathematics within these regions, the commission awards annual grants in the form of scholarships. These scholarships enable mathematicians to conduct research abroad at no cost, fostering international collaborations and networks that are otherwise challenging to establish.
This program is more than just an opportunity; it’s a gateway to a global community of mathematicians, creating avenues for impactful research and meaningful connections across borders. For aspiring mathematicians, seizing this exceptional international opportunity is a must-do. It opens doors to new ideas, experiences, and collaborations that can shape the trajectory of one’s academic career.
